Real Estate
Real estate has long been a major economic driver in our region. Disputes are inevitable. DJA lawyers have experience acting in real estate disputes involving residential, commercial, and industrial lands.
Our lawyers have acted in cases involving the purchase and sale of land, mineral claims, leases and rent renegotiations, strata disputes and wind-ups (see Cox v. Seymour Village Management Inc., 2015 BCSC 275), and land development. We have also acted in easement and right of way disputes, land assessment and taxation matters and partition and sale applications (see Jenor Steel Inc. v. 466372 B.C. Ltd., 2023 BCSC 369).
We also often provide support to solicitors at the early stage of an emerging dispute by providing advice in the context of a collapsing deal to ensure our client’s legal position is protected to the extent possible. Such timely advice can be important in preserving a claim or positioning a defence.
