Postmedia v. Named Person, 2022 BCCA 431

Scott Dawson acted as counsel for Postmedia in an appeal from orders pronounced by the Chief Justice of the BC Supreme Court denying the media access to information about a secret proceeding over which the Chief Justice was presiding. The BC Court of Appeal described the process followed by the court below as having placed the parties and the Court of Appeal in an untenable position and made recommendations as to how to facilitate access applications/improve court openness in future cases involving extreme secrecy.
