Biography

The Honourable David Crossin, KC, joined DJA Counsel as Counsel after 40 years at the bar and most recently serving as a Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. For some years, he was the law partner of Craig Dennis, KC and is pleased to join Craig and the team at DJA Counsel to practice in the areas of litigation, consultation, arbitration and mediation. Our clients will benefit from David’s expertise as a seasoned litigation strategist and advocate at the highest levels.

David has appeared at all levels of court in B.C. and the Supreme Court of Canada. His practice included commercial, administrative, and criminal law. He had a broad client base ranging from representing Cominco Ltd. concerning a commercial contract dispute; to acting on behalf of various interested parties in the Frank Paul, Missing Women, and Dziekanski Public Inquires; to defending one of two accused in the Air India bombing trial.

David was often retained by members of professional and regulatory organizations concerning all manner of legal issues. He has also been appointed a Special Prosecutor on certain criminal matters, and been retained as an amicus curiae over the years to assist the court.

In recognition of his work, David was invited and inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers.

David is grateful for having had the opportunity early on to work alongside some extraordinary and gifted role models, including the Honourable Angelo Branca, QC; the Honourable Thomas Braidwood, QC and Leonard Doust, KC.

His early experiences highlighted the importance of providing support and mentorship to others in the profession. They also inspired a keen interest in working to ensure the integrity of the administration of justice and access to justice for all Canadians.

As such, David’s contributions to the legal profession throughout his career have been, and continue to be, significant.
